CACAO INFORMATION
- Information about why we use Cacao
Cacao is a very powerful and divine food.
Cacao has been considered by many cultures as a plant of Divine Union and is known for its expansive, heart opening qualities on an energetic and physical level.
The Cacao is prepared by hand from start to finish by the women of the tribes.
We call this ceremonial cacao.
It is picked, roasted and made into a paste, brick, or pre cut cacao.
It is pure 100% Cacao.
The Cacao is made into a drink with hot water then taken in with great intention.
The Cacao is wonderful to connect with to gain clarity and vision from within.
During our ceremonies we will take in the Cacao in the ceremonial fashion that I will share in the Opening Ceremony.
- The superfood properties of Cacao
Cacao is very rich in antioxidants, theobromine, magnesium and supports the release of dopamine and serotonin.
Theobromine is related to caffeine though does not act like caffeine.
Usually there are small amounts of caffeine in Ceremonial Cacao.
The hotter and more it's processed it can have more caffeine.
Cacao is regenerative for the body as it supports the creation of double the amount of stem cells in the body when taken.
- The heart opening properties of Cacao
Cacao is a vasodilator. This means that it opens up the blood vessels creating more circulation.
This is considered the heart opener on a physiological level.
The living consciousness of Cacao is a heart opener in that it supports our connection with the Divine within.
You can feel open, rejuvenated and uplifted with Cacao due to its properties facilitating great wisdom that is inherent within the heart to flow allowing the mind to come into Union with heart body and Soul!
- What Cacao to use for the journey
As stated above, Ceremonial grade Cacao is used for ceremonies.
If you have a brand that you like, great!!
There are many companies that sell Ceremonial Grade Cacao that you can choose from.
I use several types of Ceremonial Cacao, though Soul Lift Cacao and Eternity in a Box are great companies that I use.

- How much cacao to make for each ceremony
- See precautions below
A typical ceremonial dose is -
33 grams/ 8 oz of water
or
a little more than an ounce per 1 cup of water.
This is a very strong dose and is wonderful.
It can be quite bitter since it is 100% Cacao, though this is the medicinal property.
I will be taking this amount or what feels aligned for me and the group space I am holding during our ceremonies, though you can do less if you’d like, anywhere from 6 grams to 33 grams per cup is good.
Here are the recommended doses for different uses -
Children 6g/8oz water
Social 15g w/8 oz water
Meditation 22g w/8oz
Ceremony 33-55g 8-16 oz water
- How to make the Cacao
You will need
- Cacao
- Hot water
- A jar with a lid
- Or a pot and a whisk
- A mug
First heat your water to a temperature that when you stick your finger in it’s hot enough that you can’t leave your finger in.
Do NOT boil the water.
Cut your cacao if it’s not precut and choose your amount.
Put the Cacao in your jar, pour the hot water in, put the lid on and shake until the cacao is mixed in and you have a nice froth on top.
Or put the cacao in the pot of hot water and whisk until the cacao is mixed in and you have a nice froth.
Pour into your mug.
If you have a mason jar with a lid, I would suggest you use this so you can keep it warm in here until we begin to drink it, then you can shake it and either drink out of the jar or pour into your mug.
- Precautions for Cacao
If you are pregnant, nursing, on antidepressants, antipsychotics only use about 5 - 15 grams per cup.
If you are on any prescription drugs it is best to see if there are any contraindications.
